Belluno hospital records seven births in a single day

On 24 June 2026 the obstetrics department of the Belluno hospital in northern Italy delivered seven newborns in 24 hours, a sharp contrast to the region’s current average of about one birth every two days. The births included four girls and three boys, with one set of twins among the newborns.

The families come from Belluno and nearby towns such as Ponte nelle Alpi, Rocca Pietore, Limana and Alpago, bringing the day’s tally to a 6.7 % increase over the same period in 2025. Hospital staff highlighted the event as a rare demographic boost for an area that has seen a steady decline in birth rates over recent decades.
