Belluno residents clash over historic cedar tree removal
A dispute has emerged in Belluno regarding the future of a large, century-old cedar tree located on via Feltre at number 44. The tree, which is part of the Condominio Alba property, has become a point of contention between local residents and environmental advocates.
The residents of Condominio Alba have voted by majority to fell the tree, citing public and private safety concerns. They argue that the massive size and stability of the specimen pose a potential risk to people and property due to its proximity to the road and nearby buildings.
Conversely, the Belluno section of Italia Nostra is opposing the removal, describing the tree as a significant aesthetic and landscape element for the area. The organization has warned that proceeding with the felling without proper technical verifications or required authorizations could lead to administrative or criminal penalties for those responsible.
