Belém, Brazil showcases regenerative tourism and night forest tours

During the COP30 climate summit, the MUDA! Coletivo Brasileiro pelo Turismo Responsável organized two regenerative tourism experiences on the islands of Cotijuba and Combu near Belém, Brazil. The programs highlighted local bio‑economy practices, medicinal‑herb projects, traditional crafts and community‑led hospitality, offering participants immersive days that included visits to the Farmácia Viva project, the Casa do Chocolate, and local culinary events. Limited slots were priced between R$600‑R$800, with scholarships available for those unable to pay.

Separately, the Bosque Rodrigues Alves in the heart of Belém began a night‑guided walk initiative. Led by survival instructor Jefferson Valadares with support from biologists, the tours let visitors observe nocturnal wildlife, learn about local legends and receive environmental education. The popular outings attract hundreds of participants, with proceeds helping maintain the urban forest. Both efforts aim to deepen public connection to the Amazon’s biodiversity and promote sustainable, community‑driven tourism.
