Belém hosts Capoeira Angola cultural show

A one‑hour musical‑theatrical performance titled "Gungas, Marimbas e Urucungos em Encantorias Ancestrais" is scheduled for 14 August at the Teatro Margarida Schivasappa in Belém, Pará. The event is part of the national tour "Mandingas e Mandingueiros no Caminho da Ancestralidade" and is organized by the Centro Cultural e Educacional Mandingueiros do Amanhã of Maranhão, with sponsorship from Petrobras under the Lei Rouanet cultural incentive.

The show brings together capoeiristas and young quilombola musicians from several Maranhão communities, performed by the Orquestra de Berimbaus Mandingueiros do Amanhã. It blends Capoeira Angola with other Afro‑Brazilian traditions such as tambor de crioula, bumba‑meu‑boi, and samba, celebrating resistance, memory, and spirituality of the Afro‑Brazilian heritage. Free tickets are available after the tour’s previous stops in Parnaíba (PI), São Luís (MA) and Itapecuru‑Mirim (MA), with a final show planned for Rio de Janeiro in September.
