Belém prepares for Círio de Nazaré 2026 with cultural events

Preparations for the 2026 Círio de Nazaré in Belém include cultural educational activities and the public exhibition of the procession rope.

Historian Michel Pinho will lead a free public lecture titled ‘Círio de Nazaré: history and culture’ on Sunday, September 27. The walking tour will begin at Palácio Lauro Sodré and conclude at Casa das Onze Janelas, covering historical sites such as the Igreja do Carmo and the Igreja da Sé. The initiative, supported by Vale, aims to connect the public with the city's religious and architectural heritage.

Additionally, the 800-meter rope used in the major processions is currently on display at Estação das Docas. The rope, which was recently inspected for safety, is divided into two 400-meter sections. One section is destined for the Trasladação and is located at the Basílica Santuário, while the main section for the Círio procession is available for public viewing at Estação das Docas until October 10.
