Belém revitalizes Avenida Centenário to combat illegal waste dumping

The City of Belém has launched a revitalization project to transform two areas on Avenida Centenário in the Mangueirão neighborhood, which were previously used for illegal waste and debris disposal. The intervention, managed by the Municipal Secretariat of Maintenance and Urban Conservation (Sezel), covers an area of more than 720 square meters.

The project involves an investment of R$ 87,657.35 and includes cleaning, drainage improvements, sidewalk reconstruction, landscaping, and the recovery of the grass on the José Pires canal slope. These improvements aim to prevent water accumulation and discourage further irregular dumping.

Work began on August 28, with completion expected within the week. One of the targeted sites is located at the corner of Avenida Centenário and Rua São Bento, where cleaning and drainage work have already been completed.
