Belém street vendors seek donations after vehicle accident

Street vendors Selma da Silva Sousa, known as Selminha, and Adriana, known as Drika, are appealing for public assistance following a work-related accident in Belém, Brazil. The incident occurred when a vehicle transporting their equipment lost control while descending a ramp near the intersection of Diogo Móia and Cônego Lúcio Cacela streets.

The collision resulted in damage to a local resident's car, specifically destroying a door. The vendors emphasized that the car owner relies on the vehicle for her own work, making the repairs urgent. In addition to the property damage, one man involved in transporting the vendors' equipment was injured during the accident.

Selminha and Drika have mobilized friends and members of the local samba community to raise funds to cover the repair costs for the resident, as they are unable to bear the financial burden alone. The vendors also reported losses regarding their own merchandise and equipment.
