Belmont Middle School Teacher Arrested on Child Pornography Charges

Leon Dyer, a 45‑year‑old teacher at Belmont Middle School who also worked at a summer camp in Middleborough, was arrested on two counts of possessing child sexual abuse material. The arrest was made by the Massachusetts State Police Cyber Crime Unit, the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and the Belmont Police Department.

The school suspended Dyer’s technology accounts and barred him from school property. Superintendent Jill Geiser said the district’s primary concern is student safety and noted there is no evidence Dyer engaged in misconduct with students. Dyer is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday in Cambridge District Court, and the investigation remains ongoing.
