Belmont Park hosts key Breeders’ Cup qualifying stakes

Major thoroughbred horse racing events are scheduled at Belmont Park as part of the Breeders’ Cup qualifying series.

The $500,000 Grade 2 Flower Bowl Stakes features a field of fillies and mares competing for a direct berth in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf. Analysts highlight Kathynmarissa, trained by Chad Brown, as a strong contender. Brown has a significant history in this race, having won it eight times since 2011.

Additionally, the $250,000 Grade 3 Vosburgh Stakes will take place at the same venue. This 1,400-meter sprint offers a qualifying spot for the Breeders’ Cup Sprint. Hall of Fame jockey Javier Castellano is competing in the event aboard Buttah, seeking to tie the historical record for most wins in the Vosburgh Stakes, currently held by Castellano and Ángel Cordero Jr. with five victories each.
