Belmont Park hosts successful races for Samuel Marín and Nitrogen
Belmont Park hosted significant racing events recently, highlighted by standout performances from jockey Samuel Marín and the mare Nitrogen.
Venezuelan jockey Samuel Marín achieved his first double at Belmont Park. His first victory came in the third race aboard Kinetic in a $108,000 Allowance Optional Claiming race, finishing with a time of 1:35.82. Marín secured his second win of the day in the seventh race, riding Counter Move to victory in a $65,000 Starter Allowance on the turf, clocking a time of 1:19.89.
In the Beldame Stakes (G2), the four-year-old mare Nitrogen secured a decisive victory in the $250,000 event. Ridden by Puerto Rican jockey José Luis Ortiz, Nitrogen completed the 1 1/8 mile dirt race in 1:48.36, finishing 2 ¾ lengths ahead of Donor Advised. The win marks a milestone for Hall of Fame trainer Mark Casse and positions Nitrogen as a contender for the Breeders' Cup Distaff at Keeneland.
