Belo Horizonte Central Market to receive R$ 2.5 million for infrastructure

The Central Market of Belo Horizonte, a major tourist destination in Minas Gerais, will undergo infrastructure modernization through a R$ 2.5 million investment. The funds, provided via a credit line from the Development Bank of Minas Gerais (BDMG), will be used to upgrade the electrical network, including the replacement of electrical panels and transformers with more powerful models.

The project aims to support the 400 shops within the market and accommodate approximately 15 million annual visitors. These improvements are part of a broader initiative leading up to the market's centenary in 2029. Implementation of the works is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2027.

Since 2023, BDMG has released R$ 250 million in financing through the Fungetur line to support micro, small, and medium-sized businesses in the tourism sector across the state.
