Câmara dos Deputados adopts hybrid work for staff during elections

The Brazilian Chamber of Deputies has authorized a temporary hybrid work regime for its employees during the 2026 election period. Under the decision made by the General Directorate, staff may perform up to 20 hours of their 40-hour weekly workload remotely.

This exceptional measure is being implemented due to the current lack of deliberative sessions in the plenary and committees, as many lawmakers are focused on regional election campaigns. The Chamber stated that the goal is to rationalize the use of administrative structures and reduce operational expenses while the legislative activity is reduced.

Management will maintain oversight and productivity controls over remote work. While the Chamber has formalized this transition, the Federal Senate has not yet confirmed if it will adopt a similar model for its staff.
