Belo Horizonte woman targeted in attempted feminicide by ex-partner

A 24-year-old woman was the victim of an attempted feminicide in the Cardozo neighborhood of Belo Horizonte on Wednesday night. The suspect, her 25-year-old ex-partner, allegedly struck her with a vehicle twice.

According to the Military Police of Minas Gerais, the victim had requested a protective order against the man two days prior following a dispute. The incident occurred after the suspect reportedly took a vehicle without authorization. After being struck by the car, the woman attempted to flee on a motorcycle but was hit a second time when the suspect allegedly reversed the vehicle over the motorcycle. The victim was transported to Hospital João XXIII with a leg fracture and was scheduled for surgery. The suspect remains at large.
