Rio de Janeiro hosts various free cultural and music festivals

Various cultural projects are bringing free music and cinema to different regions of Rio de Janeiro.

The fifth edition of the Orquestra Ouro Preto Vale Festival is taking place at Copacabana Beach (Posto 2). The event features four free concerts that blend classical and popular Brazilian music. Highlights include a debut performance with Samuel Rosa and a concert celebrating the 80th birthday of Alceu Valença. The festival aims to democratize access to high-quality music in a public setting.

In the favelas, the AfroReggae project Conexões Urbanas is launching a new season. The opening event features the singer Belo, performing a free show at Campo do Rubens Vaz in the Nova Holanda area of the Complexo da Maré. This initiative seeks to use entertainment to promote cultural access and stimulate local economies within these communities.

Additionally, the Curta na Praça project, led by Juliana Teixeira, is touring various municipalities and neighborhoods across the state of Rio de Janeiro. The 18-year-old initiative provides free screenings of national short films to diverse locations, including Mesquita, Duque de Caxias, and Copacabana.
