Febrie Adriansyah pretrial motion rejected by South Jakarta judge

A single judge at the South Jakarta District Court has rejected the pretrial motion filed by former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah. The ruling, delivered by Judge Richard Edwin Basoeki on August 27, 2026, upholds the legality of the investigations, searches, seizures, and the designation of Febrie as a suspect.

The judge ruled that the legal actions taken by the police and the Attorney General's Office were not arbitrary and were supported by sufficient preliminary evidence. Specifically, the court noted that the investigation and case reviews occurred well before the searches were conducted, dismissing claims that the process was premature due to the short two-day interval between the investigation order and the search.

Evidence cited in the proceedings includes allegations that Febrie received approximately Rp 40 billion in Singapore dollars from businessman Tan Kian, linked to the ASABRI and Jiwasraya corruption cases. While the judge clarified that the pretrial hearing only assessed the legality of the procedural actions rather than the ultimate truth of the bribery allegations, the evidence was deemed sufficient to justify the investigative steps.

Febrie's legal team stated they respect the decision but intend to study the judge's considerations in detail. They have emphasized the importance of due process and cautioned against rushed law enforcement actions that may lack procedural rigor.
