Bemidji police continue search for Nevaeh Kingbird five years after disappearance

Five years after 15-year-old Nevaeh Kingbird disappeared in Bemidji, Minnesota, investigators and her family are renewing efforts to find answers. Kingbird was last seen around 2 a.m. on October 22, 2021, after attending a party.

Bemidji Police Chief Mike Mastin stated that despite receiving hundreds of tips over the last five years, the investigation has not yet reached a breakthrough. Authorities are asking the public to remain alert, particularly as deer season approaches, in hopes that hunters or outdoor enthusiasts may locate clothing or items connected to the case. Kingbird was last believed to be wearing a black zip-up hoodie or a red sweatshirt with a “bull” logo, blue skinny jeans, and black and red Nike sandals.

A reward of up to $10,000 is available for specific, actionable information through a partnership with Minnesota’s Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives (MMIR) Office. The MMIR reward fund, which supports 26 missing-person cases across the state, has grown to over $650,000, largely supported by the sale of specialty MMIR license plates.
