Collegiate sports: Minnesota and North Dakota teams secure key victories

Various collegiate athletic competitions took place across the region. In women's hockey, the No. 3-ranked University of Minnesota defeated Bemidji State 4-2, completing a weekend sweep. Despite an early lead by the Beavers, the Gophers secured the win with an empty-net goal by Adrianna Milani.

In men's hockey, No. 4 University of North Dakota edged Bemidji State 4-3. The Beavers' Raythan Robbins made 40 saves, but North Dakota scored a decisive goal with under four minutes remaining in the third period.

In football, the No. 5-ranked Minnesota State Mavericks defeated Winona State 34-16. The Mavericks utilized a strong second half and a 244-yard rushing performance by Sam Backer to secure the victory.

In women's soccer, Minnesota State also earned a 4-0 shutout victory against Winona State, with goals from Maddix Archer, Amara Smith, and Anna Stromberg.
