Ben Affleck recalls Bruce Willis advising him against “Shakespeare in Love”

Ben Affleck recently shared anecdotes regarding professional advice he received from Bruce Willis while filming “Armageddon” in 1998. During an appearance on the “Happy Sad Confused” podcast, Affleck revealed that Willis advised him against taking a role in the film “Shakespeare in Love.”

Affleck noted that while Willis had good intentions and was “the sweetest guy in the world,” his advice regarding that specific project was incorrect, though he acknowledged Willis had not read the script. Affleck also recalled Willis suggesting his natural speaking voice was too high.

Despite the warning, Affleck proceeded with the role of Ned Allen in “Shakespeare in Love,” a film that went on to win seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
