Ben Affleck reflects on the recent deaths of his parents

Actor Ben Affleck has spoken publicly for the first time regarding the recent deaths of his parents, Timothy and Chris Anne Affleck. During an appearance on Kerry Washington’s podcast, ‘Street You Grew Up On’, the 54-year-old actor shared how the loss of both parents within a few months has altered his perspective on his childhood.

Timothy Affleck passed away in April at age 76. His death was previously noted by Ben’s brother, Casey Affleck, during the Venice International Film Festival. Chris Anne Affleck died on June 2 at age 83 following a six-month battle with pancreatic cancer.

Affleck revealed that discovering letters written by his mother during her youth provided a new understanding of her identity outside of motherhood. The letters detailed her ambitions and personal history, leading him to a deeper appreciation for the sacrifices she made while raising her children. He noted that the experience has caused him to reflect on his upbringing in a different way.
