Ben Carroll faces steep reelection climb in Victoria

Victorian Premier Ben Carroll faces a challenging path to reelection in the upcoming November state election. Since taking leadership in late July, Carroll has attempted to distance himself from the previous administrations of Daniel Andrews and Jacinta Allan by initiating a royal commission into the construction sector, scrapping a planned statue of Andrews, and launching a road maintenance program.

In preparation for the election, Premier Carroll and Opposition Leader Jess Wilson are scheduled to headline the Melbourne Assembly in October. This public forum, held in partnership with the University of Melbourne, will feature discussions on the city's future. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is also set to speak at the event, which comes amid rising voter resentment in outer suburbs and electoral competition from One Nation.
