Ben Cousins faces calls to cancel speaking tour
Former West Coast Eagles player Ben Cousins is facing increasing pressure to cancel his ongoing speaking tour following concerns regarding his accountability for past domestic violence convictions. The calls for cancellation intensified after the George Hotel in Ballarat opted to cancel a scheduled appearance, stating that the venue had failed to adequately consider Cousins’ history of stalking and restraining order breaches when booking the event.
The tour, organized by Z Entertainment, includes a scheduled appearance on October 3 at The Camfield near Optus Stadium. Cousins is set to appear alongside former Richmond Tigers player Dustin Martin in an event marketed as a look into the personal lives and careers of the two athletes. While The Camfield has declined to comment on hosting the event, the controversy continues to draw criticism from community members and advocacy groups.
