Reform UK receives £72m in record cryptocurrency billionaire donations FAST-MOVING

Reform UK has received two unprecedented £36 million donations within 48 hours, totaling £72 million. The first contribution was made by cryptocurrency entrepreneur Ben Delo, while the second was a matching donation from Christopher Harborne. These sums represent the largest single political donations in British history.

Ben Delo, co-founder of BitMEX, stated the lump-sum payment was intended to ensure a “fair fight” and protect against potential future legislative restrictions on political funding. Christopher Harborne described his contribution as a “philanthropic gift to our country.”

The massive influx of capital has triggered significant political and legal scrutiny. The Metropolitan Police are investigating allegations regarding whether Reform UK figures discussed methods to obtain prohibited support from foreign donors. Additionally, Harborne is facing a parliamentary standards inquiry concerning a separate £5 million gift to Nigel Farage.

Established political parties, including the Liberal Democrats, have called for the government to implement caps on political donations to protect democratic integrity. The UK government is currently considering measures to limit donations from British citizens living overseas to £100,000.
