BEN electric vehicle enters Brazil via student innovation challenge

The Portuguese electric vehicle BEN is entering the Brazilian market through the ‘BEN Builders’ initiative. Organized by the Center for Engineering and Product Development (CEiiA) in São Paulo, the project challenges local students to develop a Brazilian version of the vehicle and propose innovative urban mobility solutions.

The challenge focuses on themes such as vehicle sharing, connectivity, carbon emission reduction, and efficient use of urban space. This initiative arrives as Brazil reaches a milestone of 1 million electrified light vehicles in circulation, supported by growing charging infrastructure and tax exemptions.

The BEN vehicle is approximately 2.5 meters long and can accommodate up to three occupants. Large-scale production is projected to begin in early 2027, following European Union certification. Following the Brazilian stage, the project is expected to expand to Japan and an African nation.
