Brisbane Lions secure key contract extensions ahead of AFL semi-final

The Brisbane Lions have secured significant roster stability ahead of their do-or-die AFL semi-final against the Adelaide Crows. All-Australian midfielder Zac Bailey has committed to an eight-year contract extension with Brisbane, rejecting a substantial offer from Adelaide. Teammates noted the decision was a surprise to the squad but provided a timely boost following a heavy qualifying final loss to Sydney.

In addition to Bailey’s commitment, veteran Dayne Zorko has signed a one-year deal to play through the 2027 season. The 37-year-old aims to extend his career into a 17th season, potentially surpassing the club's games record.

The upcoming semi-final at the Gabba serves as a critical juncture for both clubs. Brisbane is looking to recover from a 53-point defeat to maintain their bid for a third consecutive premiership, while Adelaide seeks to build on their first finals victory since 2017.
