Ben, missing rock climber found dead off Pembrokeshire coast

Dyfed‑Powys Police confirmed that a body was discovered on Thursday in the coastal area of Caer Bwdy, Pembrokeshire, during the search for 47‑year‑old Ben, who had been missing since Wednesday, 5 August. Ben was last heard from around midday on the day he intended to go rock climbing in the Carreg y Barcud area or at Caer Bwdy Bay near St Davids. He was described as about 5 ft 11 in, athletic, with short brown‑grey hair and brown eyes, and was carrying an orange bag and wearing black climbing shoes with an orange strap.

The multi‑agency operation involved Dyfed‑Powys Police, specialist officers, drones, a helicopter, the HM Coastguard, and the Tenby RNLI lifeboat, which launched on Thursday morning and searched the designated area for several hours before standing down. Identification of the deceased has not yet been confirmed, and the family has been notified while the investigation continues.
