Ben Shelton defends Sinner and Alcaraz dominance in tennis
American tennis player Ben Shelton has dismissed claims that the dominance of Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz is waning. Despite both players facing injury setbacks during the season—Sinner with a knee issue and Alcaraz with a wrist injury—Shelton argued that it is “unfair” to suggest their hegemony is diminishing.
Shelton noted that Sinner secured five Masters 1000 titles and the pair won two of the four Grand Slams held this year. Meanwhile, Carlos Alcaraz recently secured a victory against Karen Khachanov at the ATP 500 in Vienna, winning 6-4, 7-6(5).
In terms of rankings, Alexander Zverev has secured the top spot in the ATP rankings at the end of the year, a move Alcaraz publicly supported. Sinner is expected to return to competition at the Six Kings Slam exhibition tournament in Saudi Arabia.
