Ben Simmons makes NBA preseason debut with Sacramento Kings
Ben Simmons made his NBA preseason debut for the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night in a game against the Golden State Warriors at Chase Center. Playing nine minutes, Simmons recorded seven points and one assist on 2-4 shooting. This appearance marks his first time on an NBA court since April 2025.
Kings head coach Doug Christie expressed confidence in Simmons' fit within the team's system, noting his ability to defend, rebound, and push the ball. Despite his well-documented lack of perimeter shooting, Christie highlighted his unselfishness and defensive solidity. Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr also offered words of encouragement, praising Simmons' perseverance in returning to the league after a lengthy absence.
An upcoming ESPN documentary, ‘Being Ben’, will explore Simmons' career trajectory, including his rise as a first-overall pick, the challenges following the 2021 Eastern Conference semifinals, and his passion for fishing in the Florida Keys.
