Ben Stokes signs record deal with Adelaide Strikers
Former England captain Ben Stokes has signed a deal with the Adelaide Strikers to play for the entire 2026-27 Big Bash League season. The contract is reportedly worth approximately AUD 500,000, which would make it one of the most expensive deals in the tournament's history.
Stokes is the first international player to sign under the BBL's new direct-signing contracting model. Strikers head coach Tim Paine has indicated that the all-rounder may be utilized in a new role as an opening batter, noting that the pace and bounce of Australian wickets are well-suited to Stokes's aggressive style.
