Ben Wallace and Zia Yusuf clash over Reform UK deportation plans
Former UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace and Reform UK home affairs spokesperson Zia Yusuf have engaged in a heated social media dispute regarding Reform UK’s proposed criminal justice policies.
The conflict arose after Wallace criticized Reform UK’s plan to address prison shortages by deporting foreign criminals to their countries of origin or to third countries, such as El Salvador. Wallace questioned the feasibility of forcing foreign nations to accept offenders and raised concerns regarding the impact on victims if deported individuals return.
In response, Yusuf labeled Wallace a “traitor to Britain,” accusing the former minister of failing to address immigration and vetting issues. Yusuf defended the Reform UK proposal, suggesting that if home countries refuse to take back their citizens, the UK should rent prison spaces in third-party nations. Wallace dismissed the claims, accusing Yusuf of “making policy and facts up.”
