Ben Wheatley to direct horror film 'Molepeople

Ben Wheatley has been appointed as the new director for the upcoming horror film 'Molepeople', replacing Rob Savage, who departed the project due to scheduling conflicts. The production has also seen lead actor LaKeith Stanfield exit, necessitating a new casting search.

Written by Nathan Elston, the subterranean thriller follows a man exploring abandoned tunnels beneath New York City, where he encounters a terrifying, cult-like community. The film is a co-production between Blumhouse Atomic Monster and Paramount Primal, with Paramount managing worldwide theatrical distribution.

Despite the leadership and casting changes, studio executives intend to maintain the original production timeline. 'Molepeople' is currently scheduled for a theatrical release on August 27, 2027.
