Benabarre hosts celebration of traditional artisanal meats
The town of Benabarre hosted a 'Jornada de Elogio a la Coqueta,' an event dedicated to celebrating traditional meat products and artisanal butchery from the Huesca province. The event featured an exhibition of various regional specialties, including 'coquetas,' 'tortetas,' 'bolas,' and 'patacas,' produced by numerous local butcher shops.
Organized by the Diputación, the Benabarre City Council, Benabarre Sabor, Cittaslow, and the Centro de Innovación Gastronómica de Aragón (Ciga), the day included a roundtable discussion regarding the past, present, and future of these identity-defining meat products. Ismael Ferrer, the gastronomic director of Ciga, noted that these traditions root the community in its cultural diversity and history.
