Benagalbón Museum renovation reaches 20% completion
Renovation works for the Museo de Artes Populares de Benagalbón have reached 20% completion. The project, which began in late July, aims to modernize the facilities, expand exhibition space, and improve accessibility and functionality to better preserve and promote the municipality's ethnographic heritage.
The project includes the creation of a large open exhibition hall, a reception area, an accessible restroom, and storage space. It also involves the incorporation of a former sports club into the museum's total surface area. Technical updates include the renewal of linings, ceilings, floors, and carpentry, alongside upgrades to climate control, lighting, ventilation, water supply, and sanitation systems.
The works are being executed by Serconsa Rehabilitaciones, SL with a budget of 158,101.15 euros, fully funded by the Diputación Provincial de Málaga. The expected timeframe for the execution phase is three months, after which the museum will undergo a musealization process to provide a more immersive experience for visitors.
