Benaoján school parents escalate safety dispute to Prosecutor
Parents of students at the Nuestra Señora del Rosario school in Benaoján are escalating their dispute with the regional Education Department to the Prosecutor's Office for Minors and the Ombudsman. The conflict centers on ongoing construction work at the school, which parents argue is incompatible with safe classroom activities.
Parents claim a municipal architect's report indicates structural issues in the building, suggesting it is unsafe for students. They have proposed using a nearby training center as an alternative site to ensure the school year can begin safely. While the Education Department has implemented safety measures, such as metal fencing and internal partitions to separate construction zones from students, the parents maintain that the current situation does not guarantee the right to a safe public education.
