Benda patents new supercharged V-engine design
Chinese manufacturer Benda has filed a new patent for a supercharged V-engine, signaling a potential move into the forced-induction motorcycle market. The patent reveals a design featuring a radial compressor positioned low in front of the engine block. Unlike previous concepts, this compressor is driven directly by the crankshaft via gears integrated into an extension of the engine casing, making the charger an integral part of the engine construction rather than an add-on.
While the patent drawings do not explicitly confirm whether the engine is a V2 or a V4 configuration, the technology aligns with a growing industry trend. Driven by stricter emission and fuel consumption standards, manufacturers like Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Kawasaki are all exploring or utilizing supercharged and turbocharged technologies. This development may also revive Benda’s previously unreleased VTR300 Turbo project.
