Bending Spoons secures €500 million SACE‑backed loan for acquisitions

Italian digital‑app group Bending Spoons has entered into a €500 million term loan facility guaranteed by the state‑owned export credit agency SACE. The loan, arranged by HSBC Continental Europe, Intesa Sanpaolo and BPER Banca, matures in March 2031 and is intended for general corporate purposes and future acquisitions.

The financing is part of a larger €1.49 billion package that also includes €495 million of additional term‑loan A financing and a €490 million increase to the company’s revolving credit facility, all maturing in the same year. CFO Davide Scarpazza said the aim is to maximise long‑term share value and deploy capital disciplinedly, mainly through acquisitions. SACE chief executive Michele Pignotti highlighted the deal as evidence of Italy’s support for innovative firms expanding globally. Bending Spoons, newly listed after an IPO at $29 per share, has been acquiring digital businesses such as Evernote, Meetup, WeTransfer, Vimeo, AOL and Eventbrite.
