Benedictine nuns relocate Kloster Engelthal to Bingen am Rhein

The Benedictine community of Kloster Engelthal in the Wetterau district is relocating to Bingen am Rhein after more than 60 years at their current location. The move to the Rochusberg area marks a significant turning point for the order.

Abbess Elisabeth Kralemann, who has been with the monastery for 50 years, noted that the decision was driven by the increasing workload for the shrinking community. The order currently consists of only twelve nuns, with ages ranging from 53 to 99. The five-hectare Engelthal site, which includes a residence, guest house, historic church, and gardens, has been maintained by the sisters for decades but has become too much for the small group to manage.
