Benedikt Óskarsson resumes training after severe golf accident
TTH Holstebro playmaker Benedikt Óskarsson has begun training again following a severe golf accident in Iceland this past June. The 24-year-old was struck in the side of the head by a stray golf ball from approximately 20 meters away, resulting in a skull fracture and a brain hemorrhage.
The injury impacted his nerve pathways, causing an immediate loss of mobility in his right throwing hand. Óskarsson expressed significant fear regarding the future of his professional handball career, noting that unlike standard injuries, medical professionals could not initially guarantee his hand would function normally again.
After a two-month recovery period in Iceland, Óskarsson has arrived in Holstebro. While his ring and pinky fingers remain nearly numb, specialists have provided positive reports. He has started strength training and has resumed throwing a handball, with hopes of returning to competition within the coming months.
