Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla karate team clinches 29 medals at Mexico national tournament
The Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP) karate team won 14 gold, 10 silver and 5 bronze medals – 29 in total – at the Torneo Nacional de Karate‑Do CDMX Preselectivo Houston organized by the Federación Mexicana de Karate Do y Artes Marciales Afines (FEMEKA). The results qualified the athletes for the pre‑selective round of the IOSTK Cup and secured their spot in the International Open to be held in Houston, Texas.
The medalists were Gabriela Isabel Flores Quevedo, José Luis García Lima, Akari Citlalli Onodera Anaya, Quetzalken Fernando Jiménez Martínez, Carolina Salazar Gutiérrez, Jorge Iván Hernández Hernández, Odalis Esmeralda Juárez Moncada and Ana Valeria Reyes Reyes. Their preparation was overseen by senseis Fátima del Carmen Maza Sánchez, Denichi Rizieri Pájaro Juárez, Miguel Ángel Flores Morales and Francisco Javier Arenas Balderas at BUAP’s dojos in Ciudad Universitaria, the Lázaro Cárdenas del Río and 2 de Octubre de 1968 preparatories, the Regional Simón Bolívar and the Bachillerato Internacional 5 de Mayo.
