Bener Meriah Police name two students as suspects in assault case

The Bener Meriah Police Resort in Aceh has named two high school students, identified by the initials RA (17) and HR (16), as suspects in an alleged assault against another student.

The incident occurred on Saturday, August 22, in the Kampung Burni Telong area of Wih Pesam District. A video of the assault went viral on social media, prompting an investigation. The victim, a 16-year-old student identified as T, sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment at Datu Beru Takengon Hospital in Central Aceh.

Investigators have examined six witnesses and secured evidence, including clothing worn during the incident and mobile phone video recordings. Because the suspects are minors, the legal process will follow the Child Protection Act and the Juvenile Criminal Justice System Act. Police are currently coordinating with the Lhokseumawe Class II Correctional Center and social workers to complete the case files.
