Bener Meriah proposes 1,056 permanent homes for disaster victims

The Bener Meriah Regency government in Aceh has proposed the construction of 1,056 permanent housing units (huntap) to the central government for residents affected by floods and landslides. The proposal, submitted to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), includes 252 communal units and 804 independent housing units.

While the proposal has been accepted, most construction is awaiting further processes from relevant ministries and agencies. Currently, 64 communal housing units have begun construction in Wonosobo Village, Wih Pesam District. These units are being funded by the state budget through the Ministry of Housing and Settlements and are being built on 1.4 hectares of government-owned land.

Bener Meriah Regent Tagore Abubakar performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the initial 64 units, which are type 36 plus houses. The project is intended primarily for residents of Jamur Ujung Village who lost homes due to hydrometeorological disasters. The Regent has requested that contractors complete the construction within three months.
