The 2026/27 United Rugby Championship (URC) season has commenced, featuring several key matchups and roster updates. In Italy, Benetton Rugby opened their campaign with a 19-19 draw against Dragons RFC. Benetton is also preparing for a second-round home match against Connacht Rugby at Stadio Monigo, with organizers noting temporary access changes due to stadium construction.

Zebre Parma is set to make their season debut against the Vodacom Bulls at the Sergio Lanfranchi stadium. The Bulls, the reigning vice-champions, arrive without several international stars but feature experienced players like Willie le Roux. To bolster their roster, Zebre Parma has announced the loan signing of South African center Zane Bester from the Suzuki Griquas for the 2026/27 season.

In a separate club development, Benetton Rugby recently inaugurated its Heritage project at Monigo, honoring over 200 athletes who have represented the franchise since 1932.
