Benevento and Orvieto host major religious festivals for San Bartolomeo and San Sabino

The city of Benevento is preparing a night pilgrimage on 23 August to honor its patron, Saint Bartolomeo. Archbishop Michele Autuoro will lead the procession through the historic streets, culminating in a special prayer service and a concert dedicated to Verdi in Piazza Federico Torre.

In Orvieto, a scholarly conference titled “San Sabino between Canosa and Orvieto” was held on 29 July, examining the ancient cult of Saint Sabino, its Benedictine connections, and the renowned 14th‑century reliquary of his skull. Historians and church officials discussed the saint’s historical significance and the preservation of related artworks.
