Benevento court denies detention for attempted murder suspect

A judge at the Benevento Court has declined to validate a new detention order for Valerio Pagnozzi, a 22-year-old man accused of attempted murder. This decision follows Pagnozzi’s recent release by the Naples Reexamination Court, which had overturned a previous detention due to a procedural error.

The prosecution alleges that on August 27, 2026, Pagnozzi drew a firearm at the ‘Wikka Party’ venue in Piazza De Mita and shot a 27-year-old man multiple times. The victim survived the attack by taking cover behind a counter and subsequently underwent surgery. Following the incident, the local police chief ordered the venue to close for 15 days.
