Guardia di Finanza seizes 2,500 litres of illegal diesel in Benevento

The provincial command of the Guardia di Finanza in Benevento confiscated about 2,537 litres of diesel that did not meet standards for road vehicles. The fuel was found during an inspection prompted by a citizen report of engine damage after refueling. Laboratory analysis confirmed the diesel’s low flash point, making it unsuitable for automobile use. The seized fuel, valued at roughly €5,000, and two fuel dispensing pistols were seized, and the distributor’s owner was charged with commercial fraud and evasion of excise taxes.

The operation highlights the agency’s intensified efforts to combat tax fraud and illegal fuel distribution, which distort competition and harm consumers.
