Benfica and Sporting secure long‑term contracts with female athletes Carolina Monteiro and Matilde Nave

Portuguese handball international Carolina Monteiro has extended her contract with the Benfica women's team until 2027, saying the renewal is a source of pride and a responsibility as the club aims to progress further in European competition.

Eighteen‑year‑old forward Matilde Nave has signed a new deal with Sporting's women's football side that runs until 2029. The Leiria‑born player thanked the club for its investment in her development and highlighted the opportunity to continue growing on and off the pitch.
