Benfica faces packed August schedule under Marco Silva
Coach Marco Silva says Benfica will endure a grueling August, with up to eight matches in 24 days. The team must start the Europa League campaign against Hearts in the first leg of the third qualifying round, followed by a return fixture a week later. If they progress, additional play‑off games and a possible trip to face the winner of the Aarhus‑Sabah tie await. Domestic commitments add four league games, including a home match against Académico de Viseu and visits to Casa Pia, Moreirense and Estoril, leaving little recovery time.
Silva also praised Norwegian winger Andreas Schjelderup, describing his quality and importance to the squad. He dismissed speculation about the player’s future, emphasizing the need to maximise his contribution. When asked about a potential defensive signing, Silva said there were no discussions at present.
