Santa Clara and Benfica face off in high-stakes Primeira Liga clash

Santa Clara hosts Benfica at the Estádio de São Miguel in a pivotal ninth-round match of the Primeira Liga. The encounter features a top-four battle, with Benfica sitting in second place with 19 points and Santa Clara in fourth with 18 points.

Santa Clara enters the match looking to bounce back from a recent Taça de Portugal exit against Mafra. Despite that loss, they remain one of the league's most resilient sides, boasting the best defensive record with only four goals conceded and maintaining an unbeaten streak in league play. However, head coach Petit will be without midfielder Djé Tavares, who is suspended.

Benfica, managed by Marco Silva, arrives in the Azores following a strong run of form, including recent successes in the Europa League. While they possess the league's most prolific attack, they face a disciplined Santa Clara side. A victory for Benfica is essential to keep pressure on league leaders FC Porto, who currently hold an eight-point advantage.
