Benfica midfielder Heorhii Sudakov faces potential serious injury

Benfica midfielder Heorhii Sudakov is facing a potential serious injury following a heavy challenge during Ukraine’s Nations League match against Northern Ireland. The Ukrainian player was substituted in the 68th minute after receiving a hard tackle from Brodie Spencer, leaving the pitch limping and in significant pain.

Ukraine’s coach, Andrea Maldera, expressed concern over the injury, noting how the loss of Sudakov impacted the team's tactical plans during the match. Teammate Eduard Sarapiy also voiced alarm, stating, “I don’t know the details, but I just saw Sudakov. He is limping. He thinks it could be a serious injury.”

Sudakov is currently undergoing medical evaluations in Ukraine. Benfica is monitoring the situation closely and is prepared to request his immediate return to Portugal for treatment if necessary. While his availability for Ukraine’s upcoming match against Hungary is highly unlikely, the club’s primary focus is his recovery for their domestic fixture against Vitoria Guimarães on October 11.
