Benfica advances talks for Souffian El Karouani

Benfica is in advanced negotiations to sign Moroccan left-back Souffian El Karouani from Saudi Arabian club Al Qadsiah. The deal is reportedly being structured as a loan until the end of the season, with clubs currently finalizing the distribution of his salary.

El Karouani, 25, joined Al Qadsiah on a free transfer from FC Utrecht this summer but has struggled to integrate into the squad. Due to the Saudi Pro League's limit on foreign players, he has not been included in matchday squads.

Benfica manager Marco Silva is seeking to bolster his defensive options, as the club currently has limited depth at the left-back position. El Karouani previously demonstrated strong offensive capabilities in the Netherlands, recording 18 assists during his time with Utrecht.
