Portuguese football clubs face key player injuries

Several Portuguese football clubs are facing player availability issues due to injuries and medical protocols.

FC Porto midfielder Victor Froholdt is recovering from a brain concussion sustained during a match against Moreirense. After spending a night in intensive care, he has been discharged but will miss the UEFA Champions League match against Manchester City. Medical experts suggest his return to competition may take between 10 to 14 days following standard concussion protocols, potentially making him unavailable for the upcoming ‘clássico’ against Benfica.

Benfica defender Alexander Bah also suffered a right shoulder injury during a recent match against Marítimo. He is expected to miss the upcoming fixture against Moreirense.

In preparation for the Champions League, UEFA has announced that Norwegian referee Espen Eskas will officiate the match between Sporting CP and Galatasaray at the Estádio José Alvalade.
